Hey. I’ve a serious question for you.
Would it be possible to host/send a barebones version of your mod for others to build their own mods off of?
I mean like a version that has nothing in it, but the engine changes. It’d be immensely usefull.
I’m wanting to build a source mod, but im more of a mapper/modeller and don’t have a clue how to code what i’m looking for. But your mod has it (more dynamic lighting options).
I’m going to be creating a survival horror type mod. Based off of this old map that i made. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVjYUpHi8CE.
But the thing is, without more then one dynamic light plus the flashlight, what i have in mind is going to look like poop.
So would you mind sending a barebone version that i can build on? i will give full credit of course.
Thanks
Currently we may plan to do this, but at the moment sadly no. Sorry. We want to make sure everything works just fine to make it easier on the end user. Once we finish the mod, we’ll set it up for use with anyone else who wants to play with the modified engine.
Hi,
As you know my name is Amit. I really like your mod and it seems very interesting. I can’t wait to play it. Though the main reason for leaving this comment is that I am a music composer, and I would really like to help with that part of this if that is possible. So if you require any auditioning samples or to test my skills, then you have my mail. I have 4 years of experience (and i am capable of using high-end software and hardware).
Thanks
Amit
Look.
I just need to tell you.
The lighting is awesome, but does it have a major hit in fps?
how much does it drain, like 10-20 maybe?
I need to know so i can be prepared for unforeseen consequences.
Your mod looks great, but I can’t really tell if you guys fixed the shadow “grain”. I would like to know if it’s even possible. As with the grain make the light useless for anything med-large scale. If you did would you mind sharing how you did?
Some shadow “grain” I was talking about.

Recently I have been trying to see if I can fix it, so far my only guess would be to force something higher then 1024 for the shadow depth resolution. I have had no luck so far, but I am new to coding, so it’s a bit of a challenge.
Thanks in advance for a reply.
Yeah we completely fixed it, and have control on how much grain to use.
I was wondering if there would be a implementation of body physics to the player view? what I mean is kinda like mirror’s edge but to less of a degree. I ask because you seem to be going more for “Rebel” realism and I had found SharpeYe ( http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=908557 ) for Garry’s mod and I thought it would be awesome if something like that was added to City 17 . I don’t know if it would work well with faceAPI stuff, but it seems to that it would work and could drastically improve the immersion of the game (thats not even factoring in the Novint Falcon)
There is currently yes, we’ve been working on things like that with both weapons, and first person animations.
I forgot to mention before, but I think you guys said someone about wanting to add a first person player model. As in, you could look down and see your legs/torso. I might be wrong on this one, but could you still do it based off a similar method used in this Garry’s Mod addon? http://www.garrysmod.org/downloads/?a=view&id=57279
I hope in some way this helps if first person player model is one of your goals(if it isn’t then I suggest it).
Wow iv never heard of you all but just found your site today and everything is looking great! i was wondering if you have seen the Parallax Occlusion mod? would that be something that could be added as well? here is a video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXwKOTM0VHY
looks awesome already tho! thanks!
